Hockey- I got addicted to hockey the first time I played NHLPA Hockey on Super Nintendo. Then, the summer before college, I began playing roller hockey with some guys from work. Then when I began attending Ohio University, I worked at the hockey rink and began to play on the ice. I played forward/defense for the first 3 1/2 years, but for the past 3 1/2 years, I've been playing in net. After the initial investment in the equipment, it's become much cheaper (goalies typically play free). I currently play about once a week in a league in Shaker Heights. The league is great and I've become friends with quite a few of the other players.

Volleyball- My first roommate in Cleveland, Jason Ice, played volleyball for Walsh High School.  He invited me to play sand volleyball one evening because his team was short one player.  I didn't have anything else going on, so I was up for the experience.  At the end of the night, Jason's other teammates asked me if I want to play on their indoor team full time.  I felt like I needed another sporting activity (wink, wink) so I joined up.  I've been playing with those same folks (The greater Woodie Family & Friends) for the past 3 years, and they have become excellent friends. Actually, they've become family.

Automobiles- This category actually expands to anything mechanical.  It's roots begin back with Roscoe, growing up with summers at the farm.  We've worked on many types of motorcycles, four wheelers, etc. (he's worked on many, many more than me) over the years.  The appreciation for automobiles extends from this, I think.  The list (once again, not near as impressive as Roscoe ;) :

  87 Ford Tempo
  ?? Nissan Stanza
  87 Honda Hurricane
  89 Honda Prelude
  97 Honda Civic
  03 Volkswagen Jetta GLI
  Next ???

I've really come to appreciate the VW products. I know that might sound a little hypocritical, and to a certain extent, it is. I really do like the GLI and will probably go to another V-dub, when the time comes.

Photography- I've always been a visual person. I tend to understand things once I see them or can picture exactly how things physically work. Photography has the ability to capture a moment in time like nothing else. Video is similar, but I don't feel that it packs as much feeling into what is captured in the blink of an eye. For most people, they spend the majority of their lives working, whether it be in an office, classroom, the outdoors or elsewhere. I think that it's fairly safe to assume that in most cases, people hope and dream of greater things than what they are doing from day to day. By capturing beautiful, meaningful or memorable moments allows for relishing what one can't simply see or do every day. A mountain range, a birthday party, a group of friends, a sunset, a smile - all of these can be transformed from just a moment in time to a permanent rememberance.
